Science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated.
– Rosalind Franklin
Lisa was a middle school science teacher in Chicago Public Schools for 15 years prior to joining Lab-Aids. She began using Issues and Science, developed by SEPUP in 2009 and was immediately a fan of the curriculum because it allowed her students to engage in authentic science inquiry. Activities from Issues and Science sparked students’ curiosity and helped them recognize how science is part of their everyday lives.
Lisa graduated from Loyola University in Chicago and earned her Master’s degree from National-Louis University. She has earned National Board Certification and has been recognized by the Illinois Science Teaching Association as an Outstanding Teacher of the Year. To help spread her love of curricula developed by SEPUP, Lisa worked for 5 years as part of a team that provided professional development for the programs to Chicago teachers. She was excited to share her passion for science teaching with others and to see how teachers would leave the sessions feeling empowered and confident about teaching Issues and Science.
Lisa lives in Chicago with her husband. When she is not working, you will find Lisa traveling, on a golf course, biking, or working in her garden.
