The 4th annual STEM Symposium will be held at the Embassy Suites Albuquerque Hotel on Thursday, June 1 and Friday, June 2, 2017. This is New Mexico's premier STEM conference specifically designed for K-12 classroom teachers.
Improving STEM Instruction
These sessions focus on content learning and instructional strategies that promote STEM learning. Examples include project-based learning; integration of literacy, math practices, or technology; notebooking; and writing in mathematics.
Promoting Equity and Access in STEM Learning
These sessions focus on strategies to encourage the involvement of underrepresented populations in STEM careers and help students excel in STEM subjects. Examples include culturally relevant pedagogy, EL strategies, and women in STEM.
Building Community STEM Partnerships
These sessions focus on collaborations with organizations working to promote STEM education in school districts and classrooms. Participants learn about what these programs have to offer and how to get involved with them. Examples include afterschool programs, academic competitions, field trip opportunities, and classroom projects.
Teacher Leadership in STEM
These 45 minute sessions focus on promoting teachers as professionals and learning about teacher leadership opportunities.
